consultation
Our consultation service includes:
1-hour virtual evaluation session where you will share what challenges your child is facing. This may include inability to participate in school, religious, or play activities due to sensory dysregulation. A standardized assessment, review of families’ areas of concerns, and goals will be established.
Development of an individualized plan for your child.
Follow up, 1-hr, virtual meeting to review the plan created which will include regulation strategies and specialized education. Families will be provided with a multitude of resources to feel better equipped to support their child’s sensory needs at home or in other community environments.
Parent education
Our goal is to support families as they navigate the world of autism, or other sensory-based challenges. At Growth Spurt, we believe that knowledge is power. We routinely upload caregiver education articles, based on the questions and challenges we see our parents confront the most. Our education focuses a little bit less on medical terminology and definitions, and a little bit more on actionable steps for families to implement.
Sensory Room Design
Sensory rooms can provide a safe space for your child to regulate their nervous system and calm the senses through a variety of environmental input such as sights, sounds, textures, and smells. This can be beneficial for children with high energy, sensory sensitivities or aggressive tendencies. As occupational therapists, we can help you design an environment geared to help your child regulate their behaviors, responses and engagement strategies through the use of crash pads, swings, climbing areas, calming corners, etc.
